Earth Day 2025: Celebrating Sustainability Across the Bay Area

Earth Day, observed annually on April 22 since 1970, has deep roots in the Bay Area. This year, the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet” resonates locally through a variety of events and initiatives. Additionally, National Park Week (April 19–27) offers free park admissions and a range of activities, while International Dark Sky Week (April 21–28) provides opportunities for sky-watching enthusiasts.​

NightLife: Fungus Among Us

Kick off Earth Day celebrations early with an evening dedicated to mushrooms at the California Academy of Sciences. Enjoy mushroom-themed crafts, mycology talks, vendors, a planetarium show, live DJ sets, and a scavenger hunt. This 21+ event runs from 6–10 p.m. on Thursday, April 17. Tickets are $25.​

San Francisco Climate Week 2025

From April 18–27, San Francisco hosts its annual Climate Week featuring a kayaking excursion, a women in clean tech hike, an Ocean Beach cleanup, and panel discussions on topics like “Decarbonizing & Integrating Transportation” and “Decarbonizing Aviation.” Events are held at various locations throughout the city. Friday Nights: Celebrate Earth Day in the Bay at OMCA

Earth Day Festival at Yerba Buena Gardens
